Help bring play into our primary grade classrooms

When students have access to play, they build essential skills critical for classroom success.

According to research by Dr. Karyn Purvis, scientists have discovered that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain, unless it is done in play, in which case it only takes 10 to 20 repetitions. The Connecticut Education Foundation's primary goal is to remove boundaries to teaching and learning in the classroom. For far too long, students have been denied play in our earliest grades.

Play builds essential early literacy and math skills, critical to classroom success. These play carts come equipped with essential materials and toys for areas of play along the play spectrum, including free play- all the way up to explicit instruction. The cart also comes with a teacher toolkit, examples, and explanations of the play schema and how they lead to early literacy skills.

Help the foundation bring play to all students in the state of Connecticut. Each cart is costly and is curated by our play experts at the Foundation. We also provide professional learning that can be delivered with the carts, should districts want to purchase carts for their schools and grade level teams.
